Jake Lotz Takes on College Writing

   The 2018 spring in Chicago wasn't a pleasant one. The range in weather from 25 degrees to a high of 60 degrees. It seems like the weather is bipolar you can wake up with snow flakes covering the grass and an hour later you will be sweating in your sweatshirt. In the past couple days the weather is starting look better. It makes the lewis campus alive again people outside doing homework and other activities. It makes mode of the campus brighten up!

         Sunday April 22nd a thrilling comeback in the second game of a doubleheader highlighted the afternoon for the Lewis baseball team as it earned a split with number 25 in the nation Bellarmine at Brennan Field on Senior Day. After losing 7-0 in the first game, the Flyers rallied from an 8-0 deficit to win the second game 12-9.    A Marketing Major. Marketing is  the action or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising. I plan of majoring in marketing and trying to become a sports marketer for a professional baseball team. Marketing interest me because of the way you can attract people to a certain item by color, placement etc. I want to be a sports marketer because I grew up playing baseball and want to be around the game my whole life, even if I am not playing. I would love going to a ball field everyday and working. Looking out the window of my office and seeing a ball filed. 

   The Flyers Baseball Team take on Mckendree University down in Lebanon, IL. This is the second conference opponent for Lewis. At this point Lewis is 1-3 in conference play. Mckendree is 0-4. Lewis took the drive down to Lebanon and brought the horrible weather with them ( 40 degrees and rain) The first game of the series was moved back and moved to a different location about 15 minutes away from the Mckendree campus. The Flyers end up going 3-0 against the Wildcats. Did not play the last game due to weather. This gets Lewis to 4-3 in conference play.  Go Flyers!

      Last week I attended a time management workshop. Tj Murray presented different ways to spend your time wisely while also getting your work done.  He talked about not pulling all nighters but instead starting you work early. Also, while working for a long period of time take a break and give your mind a breather. A major thing I took from the workshop is starting papers a week/ a week and half in advance and do a little each day. Then when you are done get a peer review or go to writing center to help revise it. This workshop was very helpful for me to plan out my days and get my work done with time for a social life.
