Scares of Living on Campus

   When you first hear of living on your own as a high school senior. This idea sounds amazing, having your own space, don't have to deal with your parents etc. Then as the summer goes on you gather stuff you need to live on your own. This is when scares start to kick in. I have to do my own laundry , I have to make my own food, or I have to manage my meal card money so I don't run out. Let me tell you this is just the beginning. Just around two weeks before you move in it kicks in a little more. What if I don't get along with my roommate, what if I run out of money, what if I get locked out of my room, what if I forget something how am I going to be able to get it. Before you know it, it's move in day hundreds of cars lined up all across campus. Have zero clue where your dorm is. Dear Aunt Kim,  This is a letter that I will be telling you how in college writing 1 I learned and perfected my critical thinking, reading, and writing and composing in electronic environments. College Writing 1 I came not knowing what to expect. High school writing course were kind of a joke. They assigned papers to keep us busy, we couldn’t pick the topic, or length etc. I didn’t put much effort in these papers I thought if I write three pages on a random topic I don’t give a crap about I might get a B and I’ll be happy with that. I didn’t revise, or draft. If the papers are due on Monday, Sunday night I’m starting it. College Writing 1 has taught me to write early and often. Also, really dig deep into analysis and find what each and every word really means.  Critical thinking, reading, & writing. These three steps are key to make a magnificent paper. Time Management Workshop

      Last week I attended a time management workshop. Tj Murray presented different ways to spend your time wisely while also getting your work done.  He talked about not pulling all nighters but instead starting you work early. Also, while working for a long period of time take a break and give your mind a breather. A major thing I took from the workshop is starting papers a week/ a week and half in advance and do a little each day. Then when you are done get a peer review or go to writing center to help revise it. This workshop was very helpful for me to plan out my days and get my work done with time for a social life.
